The Mazda RX-7 was a sports car produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Mazda between 1978 and 2002. The predecessor was the Mazda RX-3 and it was replaced by the Mazda RX-8. A total of 811,634 cars were produced. The car was powered exclusively by a Wankel engine. The second generation RX-7 "FC", still known as the Savanna RX-7 in Japan, received a complete styling change, reminiscent of the Porsche 944 or Porsche 924. Only the Turbo version was available on the Japanese market, the naturally aspirated engines were intended exclusively for export.
